Rocking In Harlem Hard!!!

We played an instore launch for Atmos & Yume on Thursday night. Took Afrapunk east end stylee 2 blocks down from the Apollo and rocked this heavy trainer store. Its kinda like ?size and the Secret Wars cats were in attendance too.

It was sweaty as hell!!

Many thanks to carl chilsom check out his work here ,

he took lots of dope pcitures of us! I had to find a way to cover my weird neck allergy! It aint right, but its getting better.

It was a night out on Bleecker for us after the show! Munchies at Katz, too many drinks and was wicked seeing the boy deji abrahams. We stumbled into Le Possion and watched the Grand Puba & U-God concert.

Damn U-God is old and his hype man was kinda off-key, but it was still good seeing wu on stage again.

So here is a Wu God video cut for old times sake

video of the instore will be up soon enough, we just trailing that now. We gotta take our own camera man next time we out. Email c.vs in :)

Public AssemblY - Secret Wars - NYC vs LDN

We were down at Public Assembly on n6th in the 'burg playing our first set. It was the Secret Wars US night so there was a London family in the house.

The concept was: 90min graff battle - 2 big sheets - london vs nyc! The winner would be decided by decibel counter n bands from both towns would provide the soundtrack to the battle....

Beat box monster Reeps was hosting alongside Mike from Yume & it was set to be a big one.

They were a little on the long side with the promoters and scheduling, another band ran off with half the house kit - big gapping hole where a cymbal stand should have been, how do you miss that??? - and yada, but we managed to rock it still and repped the bammy madness of Put Em Up to the fullest. The live version of favourite girl transcends a next height of sickness with the new arrangement and that went down a treat...

Many thanks to the gorgeous Abi who came down, my boy Koye, TShirt, Dred, Ronin, Cisco and all la famile who came down to rock, and of course The Asotr Kings

Im gotta get the pics from shirt of when we were playing!!

Rehearsalz

on way to the rehearsal

sweaty at the rehearsal

yume in the building (C.Brown)

the naked drummer

on the corner

we went past where we shot the "Favourite Girl" video on the way to the rehearsal room

its good to have d.ablo along for this trip. man is a monster on the guitar and the set is sounding sick. you would think we all dropped out the same womb with sm58 mics attached,

charlie browne from yume passed through the rehearsal as well, he is digging the vibes. Its looking like its gonna be a heavy week of gigs and shenanigans.

bumped into a NYC gritty band called "my other friend", they were in practicing just before heading upstate to the mountains to record their album.

andrew is a monster on his new maple pearl kit (***vintage***), we have all come a long way from the last set of gigs we played and its sounding tight.

here are a couple of photos from the session.

New York New York

Landed at JFK today with d.ablo - met The Gallows at the airport, that was pretty cool!
They had some heavy tattoos and are in new york hanging out before they fly to LA for the warp tour!

My camera yet again seems to have died somehow!! dammit.
i am furiously charging the battery and trying to use mind over matter to make it work.
Need more Jedi skills.

The hotel where we are staying is a cool spot just off Bushwick and Flushing, has a good vibe about it , couple of cute girls running about and a relaxed attitude. Our kinda spot.

Just about to go out for the first rehearsals with the twins. Its the old gang back together again.

Bumped into Parris (Goreela) when I stopped in at Spex studios...

All of this would be way more vivid if my bloody camera hadnt bitched out on me.

Jamie Foxx Vs D'Angelo

My friend Fabienne loves D'Angelo and the other day while we were flicking thru kat williams videos (another post coming soon) on youtube, she put her foot down and said
"No More Kat Williams, I wanna watch d'angelo, 'how does it feel'...find it".
So i dutifully got on my search flex to find it for her...aah poor Fab. This is what we got instead.
But i love it!!!
She says she can never watch the original again, i think this does it more justice.

The Clown Prince play The Greatest show iN the Universe

I spent a couple of days this week doing some ADR for a new british movie called The Story So Far coming out this year.

Its about the music industry and is extremely funny, i was just watching some of the scenes whilst the foley was being done and even those snippets had me pissing myself.

Its about the greatest new rock band in england and their rise & rise....

I will post more when I get some pics n vid..

My scene was playing the band who open the greatest show in the universe..

Its seems I am getting more and more into film. My debut in Dubplate drama 3 is out this month. I hope I am in the country for it. Here is the trailer for it..

Look out for CHiFy in the studio fight scene..oh yeah Shystie swings some blows.

CtrlAltShift Magazine

Ok so thanks to Neel Dwala for pointing out that I got the last link wrong....hahahah
But here is the link for the articles I am writing for the socially conscious online magazine.

It is an account of my last trip to Las GiDi (LaGoS), So you click on the website, go to the magazine link, and chify will pop up.

Here is an excerpt of one the upcoming articles -

Fuel, Videos & a madman with a Hammer in his Hand.

I have been in Lagos for a couple of days now and think I am finally adjusting to the heat. The temperature is a healthy 32-36 most days and there are some times of day that you just never go outside in the blazing heat. Well if you can help it.
The weird thing as well about Lagos is that there is never a real opportunity for you to walk anywhere. I mean you can if you really have to or want to but there is no “just walking over to the shops” where I live and everything seems like a car trip. It is also seen as safer than just bopping about on road, and not just because of anything to do with getting robbed btu more about the mad little taxi scooters and general driving antics of most people on the roads.
So imagine my surprise when I saw more pedestrians than cars one day. There was a sea of cars all straining towards an already chained up petrol station with sun beaten occupants waiting to get served.
I had managed to get struck with the ‘petrol scarcity’ nightmare of Lagos. There seems to be a reoccurring theme with this trip and oil/gas/petrol, and in fact I think that Nigeria is one of those countries that is very apparent on how it makes it money. We as Nigerians know that our country runs and operates on oil, so when there is no fuel – Nobody move Nobody get ‘urt.

I captured some footage of building the studio in Lagos..
It was hot and i had lots of different obstacles e.g, state wide fuel shortage, that made the whole experience slightly longer.
I worked with a cool team of builders though and we are at phase tizzwo of the project.
Next stage is building an isolation booth and wiring up some gear!! brapity brap

Check out my mad carpenter at the end.

Getting a lot of love for this one
